Our guide to the Diamond Jubilee 2012 in London

Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne for sixty years! And that's enough of a reason for London residents to party, not to mention invite Boutique London Lets guests to join in...

The day itself is Tuesday June 5th 2012 but all workers in the UK get a four day weekend including the Monday and Tuesday so expect celebrations to start on the Friday night.

On Saturday she'll be at the Epsom Derby and on Sunday Her Royal Highness will parade down the River Thames on a huge flotilla of up to a thousand ships. The bridges are closed to 'invited spectators' but buy a ticket to the Battersea Park Festival for a good spot or chance it on the Embankment or South Bank.

There will also be plenty of lunches, street parties and fetes so just have a wander and join in any British fun you see going on.

On Monday there's a concert in Buckingham Palace – tickets are all allocated now but you can watch it on big screens outside on The Mall and also in St James Park and Hyde Park.

Also on Monday thousands of beacons will be lit all around the world (think The Lord of the Rings) – after all the Queen is still monarch of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbados.

And if you missed a spot of the Royal Family at the Royal Wedding last year you can have another go on Tuesday. There's a special service at St Paul's Cathedral then all the royals will head to Buckingham Palace in carriages before a balcony appearance and RAF fly-past. Seeing the planes overhead in Hyde Park last year was really great to watch so we'd recommend getting as close to the Palace as you can. Happy Diamond Jubilee everyone..
